Scottish universities have world-class expertise across the broad spectrum of technologies that make up the low carbon industry. ETP are here to make it easier for industry to access this expertise, and harness it to make your business more competitive.

Funding has been secured from the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and ETP Member Universities to continue the Knowledge Exchange Network (KEN)  that is focussed on supporting company development. Because we work across all renewable energy sectors and are a bridge between universities and industry, we are ideally positioned to help you network with customers, suppliers and collaborators.

Our team business development professionals across ETP’s member universities' nine thematic areas to help support the technology development needs of Scottish businesses. So, whatever sector you are in and whatever support you need, please contact us. The first step is to meet with an ETP Business Development Manager to find out how we can help you, for example:

Exploring a market opportunity

• Technical advice and support to help evaluate concepts and address gaps in expertise
• A few days of desk research, determine market size, SWOT analysis etc. Identifying potential competitors and collaborators
• Informal enquiries to academics, guidance and support

Industry Projects

Short projects to examine a single technical issue

  • Delivered by a Research Fellow, backed-up by a senior Academic
  • Test and demonstration facilities Numerical modelling and simulation Prototyping and model building
  • Project management supplied by your ETP Business Development Manager
  • Funding provided via ETP Knowledge Exchange Network

MSc projects

  • Fixed timescale - 8 to 12 weeks duration
  • Delivered by a postgrad student with company and academic supervision
  • No cost (or low cost) to business
  • Project scope relevant to company’s needs and interests

PhD projects – 3.5 year duration

  • In depth research on a particular topic
  • Full involvement of company in definition of research, review and supervision
  • Majority of costs provided by ETP grant and supervising university
