About the Energy Technology Partnership

 
ETP is the Scottish Academic Research Pool in energy, an autonomous alliance of 13 independent Scottish HEIs, each with areas of outstanding research capability in the energy sector. It creates value for the Scottish economy by acting as a broker between academia and external organisations and industry, promoting and disseminating ETP’s mission to translate excellent research into economic impact through the following:

Contributing to a Scottish World-Leading Research Base that is internationally competitive and strengthening its global reputation and standing.

Creating Economic Impact for the Scottish economy and society through communication, conferences, seminars, workshops, special interest groups, and knowledge exchange activity.

Supporting the energy sector with the Skills it needs, primarily through PhD programmes.

ETP Members

ETP is an autonomous alliance of 13 independent Scottish HEIs, each with areas of outstanding research capability in the energy sector.

ETP Research Themes

ETP has 11 energy themes, which enable it to focus on areas of particular academic strength. Each theme is lead by an academic Theme Coordinator, a pre-eminent academic in their field, who coordinates activity across all of ETP's members through Theme Groups.

 

Research Pooling

ETP is one of a network of 10 Research Pools across key academic themes, which contribute to world leading research and greater innovation in the Scottish economy.

Each Research Pool covers an area of specific academic research strength in Scotland:

SICSA: Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance
SINAPSE: Scottish Imaging Network: A Platform for Scientific Excellence
Soillse: Gaelic language and culture
SRPe: Scottish Research Partnership in Engineering
SULSA: Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance
SUPA: Scottish Universities Physics Alliance

Our Vision

 
Our vision is to build on the existing areas of excellence and collaborative working to make Scotland a world renowned source for energy related Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) and its commercialisation.
