Power networks of the future will incorporate high numbers of distributed and communications enabled assets. This is in stark contrast to the current network with a relatively small number of high value generation. Amongst other things, this project explores the implications of this growth in connected equipment on the existing and new communications infrastructure. The student can also provide a summary of his ETP/PERCE funded trip to RTDS technologies, Washington State University and ELECTRA IRP workshop.
