High performance Polymers for HPHT Environments

Metals and alloys are reaching their performance limits in the Oil and Gas Industry and the M-pipe® and Airborne Thermoplastic Composite Pipe are two examples of polymer composites that are good alternatives. Much less is known, however, about how these polymer composites will age, both chemically and physically, in HTHP conditions. The student has synthesized a range of oligomeric materials with the aim of establishing how these materials will behave.
