Edinburgh Napier University - Spin-out company to test 'whisky-fuel' in Belgium

A SPIN-OUT company from Edinburgh Napier University’s Biofuel Resource Centre, is taking the next steps in plans to create a commercial fuel from whisky after attracting funding of more than £1m.

Celtic Renewables have already developed a process which turns the by-products of the whisky industry in to biofuel, and now will test this process on an industrial scale after signing a partnership with Belgian based Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant (BBEPP).
The agreement comes following a grant of more than £1.2 million, including more than £800,000 from the UK Government.
