Power Network Integration & Smart Grid Technologies Funding Call

Title of call: Power Network Integration & Smart Grid Technologies Funding Call
Area: Scotland
Suitable for: SMEs
Funding size: up to £10,000 (30% In-Kind Contribution)
Closing date: 17:00 Friday 10th December 2021

Background

Over the last ten years ETP has funded numerous innovative new product/process development projects with Scottish SMEs across a broad range of low carbon energy topics which are contributing to the Scottish Government’s zero carbon emission targets.

ETP is now looking to fund innovative SME projects which are related to Net Zero Energy Distribution & Infrastructure initiatives with particular focus on Power Network Integration and Smart Grid Technologies.

Scope of Call

Scottish SMEs who are or intend to work in this field can apply to the ETP Power Network Integration & Smart Grid Technologies Project Call for £10k of funding to support working with the Scottish university research community on new product/process delivery. This is a great opportunity for a business to partner with an academic institution to obtain knowledge, expertise and to increase the success rate of their project.

We need to harness the entrepreneurial energy, flair, and ideas of Scotland’s Small & Medium sized business if we are to achieve Scotland’s Net Zero targets in a fair and accessible way. To this end, we are inviting SMEs to respond to this funding call.

Businesses that are successful in securing funding from this call will have the opportunity to tap into additional support via ETP to identify and bid for further external funding that helps to move their prototype product/service towards commercialisation.
The call is open now and SMEs can respond directly as detailed below.

How to apply

Applicants should submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) explaining what their potential project idea is and how it supports the Scottish Government in achieving net zero carbon emissions.

Applicants should submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) that outlines in around 100 words:
•    What their potential project idea is
•    Who it is targeting (e.g., The customer/end users)
•    How this funding will help to advance the idea.
•    How it will support the Scottish Government in helping to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

Who can apply

You can submit an expression of interest if your business meets the following eligibility criteria:
•    Registered Small & Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) that are based in Scotland and non-Scottish SMEs who have, or want to establish, a base in Scotland.
•    Your project idea must relate to a product/process that can be commercialised.
•    Your project requires Research & Development (R&D) that is delivered in collaboration with university academic experts.

The expression of interest is for planning purposes only. Expressing an interest does not advantage an applicant and failing to express interest does not preclude an applicant from applying for future funding.

More information

All EoI’s will be considered and receive a response. Those which meet funding requirements will be invited to submit a funding application.
It is expected that projects will start in January of 2022 and last 3-5 months.
