ETP Vacancy: Business Development Officer at the University of Stirling

The Scottish Government is supporting the introduction of a new Hydro Nation Water Innovation Programme (HNWIP) at the Energy Technology Partnership (ETP) and funding a programme to create links between innovative Scottish companies with Scottish universities to develop new water innovation products and processes.

ETP is now seeking to appoint a new Business Development Officer - Energy & Water to meet this challenge.

Brief outline of the role

The Energy & Water BDO will work closely with the Hydro Nation Chair Research & Innovation Programme within the Scottish International Environmental Centre at the University of Stirling to grow the Scottish industry-academic “water innovation programme community”. The BDO will also drive a programme of funded industry-academic projects which create innovative new water products and processes. The BDO will work closely with the other colleagues in the Business Engagement and Development Team within the Research, Innovation and Business Engagement Directorate at the University of Stirling. This is a perfect opportunity for a highly self-motivated BDO to make a key contribution to ETP and to Scotland’s water economy.

Working with the University of Stirling Business Engagement and Development Team, and as a member of the existing ETP Business Development Team, the post holder will be responsible for building mutually beneficial relationships across the water & energy sector that lead to impactful, income generating partnerships with businesses and academia that broadly support the mission of ETP and HNWIP.

A key aspect of this broad role will be facilitating successful business-university collaborations, identifying EU, UK & International funding opportunities for such collaboration and driving these bids to successful completion, developing networks, as well as stimulating innovative advanced manufacturing projects and cross-disciplinary collaborations that support Energy and Water research with other areas of expertise within the ETP University partners.

The post will be based at University of Stirling in the Research, Innovation & Business Engagement Directorate (operating under agile working arrangements), travel to ETP’s 14 partner universities and visits to SMEs and organisations across Scotland will be required (Covid restrictions allowing).

What we are looking for

Candidates should have a degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, with preferably a higher degree in a renewable energy discipline and substantial work experience in a related field. Joining a team of highly proactive business engagement and development professionals working on related energy themes, you’ll be expected to rapidly bring HNWIP up to speed by supporting businesses and academics who want to be involved and that have ideas for jointly funded projects.
