The object of this PhD project work is to investigate how crude oil composition and chemistry can affect the boundaries of erosion-corrosion maps. The novelty and timeliness of this work is that such maps have the capability of identifying the erosion corrosion regime and wastage rate as a function of velocity and potential and therefore take the corrosion mapping generated by Pourbaix in the 1950’s to a new platform relevant to combined mechanical and chemical parameters.(6). By varying the % water in the erosion-corrosion environment from 0 to 100%, the erosioncorrosion regime can be estimated.
